R+2 Haramous

Completed in 2025, this project involved the facade redesign of a 6-unit residential building located in Haramous 2, Djibouti. The intervention focused on redefining the building’s identity while maintaining a strong connection to its immediate context and climatic conditions.

The design introduces a series of arched openings that structure the elevations and create a recognizable rhythm across the facade. Textured stucco finishes, combined with warm-toned materials and terracotta roofing, contribute to a cohesive material palette that responds to both local construction practices and environmental constraints.

Particular attention was given to solar exposure and shading strategies. Recessed openings and shaded balconies enhance thermal comfort while reinforcing depth and articulation within the facade. Dark-framed glazing and metal railings were selected to introduce contrast and precision, balancing the softness of the rendered surfaces.

The project seeks to establish a refined architectural expression that is both grounded and contemporary—prioritizing durability, climate responsiveness, and a sense of place.
